Accessibility statement
AdultSkilledTrades.com is meant to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control. We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which also covers the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for the pages public agencies and colleges link to.
Conformance status
Partially conformant, with the twenty highest-traffic pages audited to WCAG 2.2 AA on September 12, 2026 and zero critical or serious issues open on them. Some older article pages and third-party embedded content (job feeds, the video player, payment pages) have not been individually audited yet.
What we test and how
- Automated checks with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rules, run on the homepage, Find Programs, the directory, the quiz and assessment, all four AI tools, the funding screener and Pell checker, scholarships, wage data, the salary calculator, the job board, About, login, and signup.
- Keyboard checks on every menu and the mobile drawer: Tab, Enter, Space, arrow keys, and Escape all work.
- Color contrast at 4.5:1 or better for body text and 3:1 for large text, using the four brand colors only.
- Every image has alt text, every form field has a label, and headings follow a logical order.
- A nightly automated health check confirms the header, footer, and wage figures render on both sites.
Known limitations
- Job listings and program listings come from third-party feeds and databases; we cannot guarantee the accessibility of the employer or school sites they link to.
- PDF downloads produced by the resume and quote tools use your browser's print engine; tagging depends on the browser.
